Fundraiser! Support NOF!

Hey bloggies, happy Monday! Spring is finally here and we have come up with four new spring designs for you to wear in this amazing weather!

AND starting today, 30 % of the proceeds are going straight to Virginia Tech's Nicaraguan Orphan Fund.

As most of you already know, I, along with 40 other students from Virginia Tech, spent our spring break in Nicaragua hanging out in an orphanage called Nueva Vida, which is a hurricane refugee camp. The families and kids that we have come to love so much live in extreme poverty, as Nicaragua is the second poorest country on the Western Hemisphere. Out of 5.1 million people, 2.3 million live in poverty, where two small meals of rice and beans are standard and nearly half the country has no access to drinking water. But these kids became our lifelong friends--and we want to help them out in any way possible. So we need your help!

Please e-mail us at canterburydesigns@gmail.com if you are interested in any of the four headbands pictured above. And don't forget we also make custom design headbands!

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Nicaragua! The first picture was taken after I reunited with my 9 year old friend Selena. This was my third time getting to hang out with her and she has become one of my closest friends. She is so full of joy and the CUTEST child I know.....(but i might be bias...)

We are so excited about this! Can't wait to hear from you.

we're back!

hello. everyone.

it seems as though that we have been a little....dead.... for the past few weeks. we weren't! lots and lots and lots has happened. well first we have been buried in school work. i (lauren) had to design a kiosk to go in front of the metropolitan museum of art (hypothetically, i did not actually design it to go there! just a studio project!). now i am working on a coffee shop in seattle, washington! it's very exciting...to me! i had an amazing spring break. i went skiing at my grandparents house and failed miserably, but it was still fun. i'm pretty sure that by the end of my time skiing i could go a whole 5 minutes without wiping out.

among lots of school work, christie has spent her time traveling. she went to nicaragua with virginia tech's nicaraguan orphan fund and had an amazing time. she had the privilege of spending time with a little girl that she had met in nicaragua last year.  picture below! she also went to charleston, south carolina to visit her friend caroline! she came back telling me that we HAD to go sometime soon...i would really like to. definitely.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, FRIENDS!!

this is us...getting ready for our hot dates.....

PSYCH....today we are each other's valentines...and we went to buffalo wild wings...with our matching fossil wallets....followed by watching monte carlo...and then of course blogging. welcome to our lives.

we are missing Anna tonight while she is out with JM on a REAL hot date to Roanoke! yay for Anna and JM for their sixth valentine's day together! we LOVE them.

but the reason why we really love this day:

the pastor at one of our church homes always says that love is not spelled l-o-v-e but it's spelled g-i-v-e. because to love is to give--to give freely and fully and to sacrifice. it's to love as God loves us and to put others before ourselves. so this valentine's day we made and gave cards to all the people that we love so much! here's just a few!

we hope your valentine's day was filled with as much love and laughter as our was.

canterburylove,

christie and lauren

ps we made those cards with our cricut machine! if you've never heard of a cricut before you should check it out!

first life episode: attempt to workout

as promised in a post before, we will be sharing more of our lives with you with the hope of giving you a bigger picture about what happens over here on Canterbury Ct.

this february, Christie and i made a work out schedule. we want to get in shape. we're not looking to lose weight...just be fit and healthy. so a few days ago, we sat down on our computers in a study lounge on campus. we made ourselves a calendar and filled out our workouts for sundays-thursdays.

  • sundays: just running. working ourselves up to 3 miles by the end of the month.
  • mondays and wednesdays: running, stair climber, and abs. (oh yes, almost forgot to mention the planks during the bachelor, revenge, and modern family)
  • tuesdays and thursdays: p90x ab ripper and planks during our favorite show parenthood
does that look easy? i don't know. i thought it did at first. but today, i feel a little beat up. like the kind of beating that you would get trying to play flag football, but you don't really know how to play?! you know?!

so anyways, p90x is hard. and kind of boring. on tuesday Christie ordered a different workout dvd. she typed in "best workout dvd" in the search bar of amazon.com. and what do you know? the first choice was 97 cents. sketchy? yea. we thought so too, but we bought it anyway. it came in the mail yesterday.

we moved the coffee table to give us more room in the den and popped in Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Extreme (anyone ever heard of her? yep, us either).  4 options: quick workout, good workout, great workout and all body pump. quick workout it is! ......44 minutes? we'll try it.

*running around in the den
*jumping up and down
*spinning around bumping into each other
*great vine....or is it grape vine?

laughing so much that we were crying, we turned it off. then we turned on p90x and stopped laughing.

here are some pictures that we documented from our afternoon.
